Whats a Simple setup for Video + Audio Syncing with Zoom H2n ?

Is it possible to record Video only and disable Audio in the Camcorder while recording ?

Why would you want to do that? You need the camcorder audio track to sync the Zoom audio.

I think you need to experience the difficulty of separate audio editing before you dismiss camcorder audio. Manually synchronizing audio for lip sync is very difficult. Just try it. You won't like it.

In most cases the unsynched external audio recorder will run at a slightly different speed vs the camcorder. This makes editing for lip sync very difficult. Pro Audio recorders have a time code track and sync to the camera or a central time code source..

Just found out the pricing for Panasonic Cams:


Panasonic HDC-TM900 = 1,252.11 USD

Panasonic HDC-SD900 = 1,170.43 USD



SD900 is cheaper, i tried finding it in bhphoto but it was not listed there and neither it was at Camcorderinfo

But i found a review on youtube

The sales person told me that the main difference between TM900 and SD900 is that the SD does not have Built-in Internal Memory Storage.


@edDV, What do you advice, SD or TM ?

It seems the only difference is the Built in memory.

This was covered in a previous thread. I recall that the SD800 also lacks an external mic jack and audio level controls, both are needed to achieve quality audio results.

I've never heard of a HDC-SD900. You need to read the fine print in the specs to find the real spec differences.

I saw the External Mic input and the Headphone jack in the above Youtube video.

There's a mic input terminal and a headphone jack on the side of the camcorder. Plug in an external mic or headphones (both optional) if desired.

The only one i could see is that SD900 does not have an internal memory built in.

But considering the price of SD Cards, i think it would be better to go with TM900 in the long run.

Since the price of one 32 GB is around $54.

I'm neutral if that is the only feature difference. I'm concerned that something else is deleted.

On second thought,
One advantage of internal memory is you can move clips off and onto flash cards in the field without a computer. This file sorting can be useful for organizing free space and backing up.

I need a way to manage all the recording, how many days in a week, how long would each recording last, etc....

is it somewhat like a storyboard ?
