Batch/Queue video_ts.ifo to MKV lossless ?

Hello,

Last year I put my DVD collection on my hard drive, as such I have loads of video_ts folders. I've been converting them to MKV to better work with XBMC.

I've been using makemkv, as I like the lossless transcoding and it's simple/quick for me. Problem is, this is a rather manual process, as every 5 minutes I have to direct it to another folder.

I was hoping to do something like in Handbrake's queue, where I can make all the decisions at once (not necessarily automated, as I like making the individual decisions ) and then click start queue, and then I can go to bed, work, school, the disco, wherever :P

Is there anything out there that is lossless, like makemkv, but with a good queue system like Handbrake?

I've been looking for two days and can't seem to find one. I did get vidcoder, but yes, I couldn't figure out how to do lossless. Ah well!

It's a shame, because I really really really like makemkv, and I also really really really like handbrake's queue. Just wish handbrake's queue could do lossless :P

I do something similar to this, but rather than remux to MKV, I remux to mpg using VideoRedo. You can add stuff to a queue and then let it run on the list while you are off doing something else. It is pay software, but a very good program. It is also the best software for fixing time stamp issues on video streams as well.

Is it speedy? The reason I like using makemkv is because if isn't actually encoding, it's just re-wrapping or whatnot. I'd no problem buying a programme that could do this

Yes, it simply remuxes like you are doing with makemkv but to mpg rather than mkv (and actually I think it can output to other formats [TS, DVR-MS, etc] but I use mpg).

I have never used MakeMKV, so I don't know how the functionality compares. This is what I do for my DVD rips:

1. Rip with AnyDVD (or most times, decrypt with AnyDVD and reauthor using DVDshrink to get only the parts I want)
2. Fire up VideoRedo (I use V3 Plus which has everything that I need for DVDs) --> Open Title from DVD
3. Select the stream that I want to extract, and click ok.
4. It comes up with another window then where you can immediately QuickStream Fix the video (this fixes timestamp errors and remuxes to mpg), or you can add to batch queue.

You can simply add things to the queue until you are satisfied and then let er rip.

I take another step. VideoRedo creates a .VLST file for each title that you open in a default directory (which can be set to where ever you want). Instead of adding to batch queue or immediately running QuickStream Fix in #4, I just cancel. Then I go into the VLST saved folder and change the name of the file to whatever I want the final mpg to be named (rather than VTS_01_01 or whatever). I then go to the Tools menu in VideoRedo and open up the Batch manager. I then select all of the renamed VLST files and batch process all of them.

One thing to note though is that all of the output files go to one directory, you cannot target each one to a different location.

Remuxing TV episodes generally takes about 1.5 minutes. Longer video takes around 3-4 minutes. It is fast.

At any rate, the software is good and the company is great to work with. They offer a fully functional 14 day trial on their software. You can really try it before you buy it. They also have a pretty active support forum (http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/index.php).
