I wanted to get peoples views about the Terapin VCD recorder. Good and bad. Thanks.

GOOD; encoding quality, speed & ease of use, VCD from analog source like VHS or LD is very nice, colors are accurate.
BAD; no (s)(x)vcd support, Color saturation on DVD is odd & rather dark, A bit finicky about the media used manufacturer states only 74min media would be correct to use (seems ok with 80 min media not written past 73:30) -- so that means lack of time per disc.
If you can get one @ SAM'S CLUB for 199.99 or less then a nice gadget, if you are paying more consider a nice capture card that can ignore macrovision (dazzle?) & a 40x lite-on cd-rw for @ same $$
Hope that helps :P -
if you don't minf VHS or lower quality, then go for one, I took mine back and waited and got the true DVD recorder a Panasonic DMR-E20, Sweet.

I'm a Terapin owner and I like it very much since it encodes discs perfectly for playback on the Napa DAV 311 portable VCD player.
At this point though I'd consider saving the money and getting a DVD recorder (prices are also good at amazon.com).
Although I was originally very happy with my purchase, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to. I would try to sell it to someone at work if anyone even knew what it was. Since I got my external DVD burner, all my time and effort has been focused on making DVDs and XVCDs (XVCDs wont play in the Terapin or the Napa).
