DDR and DDR2

Hi there.

I want to upgrade my PC.
My old motherboard P4P800S uses Ram DDR. The new one P5QL-E or SE uses DDR2.
To pospone some investment can I mount the old Ram (DDR) in the new motherboard (DDR2)?

DDR RAM is 184 pin and DDR2 uses 240 pin modules. It won't even fit in the socket. Good news is RAM is fairly cheap at present, so not a big part of the upgrade cost. I would recommend a minimum of 1GB RAM. 2GB won't hurt, even with XP. Vista needs a minimum of 2GB for optimal operation. If you are using a 32bit OS, you can use about 3.75GB maximum. More won't be used. A 64bit OS can use quite a bit more.

but with the 'sizes' of RAM that are available and the number of slots on most mobos, hitting 3.75G is a bitch.
Most people just go with 4GB and 'waste' that extra quarter of a Gig.
