  1. Background: So far this has only happened twice (mainly because I have only tried twice). And both releases have been SVCDs. Last time it was Spider man and this time with Star Wars Episode 2. I will extract the rars into a bin/cue and then burn to CD using Fireburner. After the CD has burned, there will be an MPEG2 folder containing an AVSEQ01.MPG file. Or in the case of the first CD, there will be an AVSEQ01.MPG and AVSEQ02.MPG with AVSEQ01.MPG being an intro file.

Problem: In Windows 2000, when trying to copy either one of the .MPG files above to a local drive, it will show that it is copying for about 10 minutes and when it gets to about 5 seconds remaining it will error out and produce the following error: 'Cannot copy AVSEQ01.MPG: The request could not be performed because of an I/O error.'

Any suggestions? I have tried this on 3 machines running Windows 2000 with a CD player, CD writer, and DVD player with no luck.

    Thanks

  2. this is a very common question - the "group" creating the bin/cue's for these movies (the workprint SVCD's : spiderman, unfaithful...) are using some strange or misconfigured software so you can't just copy the files off the cd's but I do have your answer.

Get VCDGear ... set it to mpeg->mpeg and check off "fix mpeg errors" then make sure it isn't set to "split mpeg files" (it's somewhere in the options I forget right now because I'm at work) then hit start (having selected the target location on your HD)

it might take a while but it works 100%

  3. Just a quick reply - an afterthought really.

did you know you can skip the burning step if you just plan to copy the files to your hd?

ISOBuster or VCDGear will extract the mpeg right out of the bin/cue

just in case you didnt know that

I suggest using VCDGear with bin/cue->mpeg with the same "fix mpeg errors" selected

  4. Thanks Stinky, I will certainly try that.

And yeah, I know you can copy straight to HD, but I'm one of those peeps who likes to impress the coworkers, so I usally burn them to CD-RW to watch at home on the Apex, then take them to work and share with the coworkers... amazes the hell out of them. =) Then recycle the CD-RWs !!

    Thanks again man !!
