Hi, newbie here. Im compiling some music videos I taped in vhs and ripped to mpg using leadtek winfast2000xp. My question is what program can I use to normalize the sound of the videos? Some are louder than the others. I tried using Windows movie maker and seems like its doing the job. It played on real player but when I tried uploading the files to Nero to burn them to dvd, the video was slow compared to the original video. I tried converting the wmv files ( thats what it became after editing in windows movie maker) using WINavi to avi, I noticed deterioration in video quality.

Please help which easy to use programs I can use. THanks!

Do you want to make the MPEGs into AVIs, as in DivX or Xvid? Use AutoGK for that, it is awesome.

If the resulting AVIs are different in volume, download this little script to normalize the audio:

    Thanks for the reply
What I want to do is to normalize the sound for the files, which I think I already achieved using Windows Movie Maker. The mpgs became wmv in the process. What I want to do now is to burn the wmv's into a dvd. What Authoring software can I use for this? I tried using good ol' nero but when editing the files, I noticed video was not normal in speed.
After authoring, I'd like to ask also what program I can use to burn them to dvd.

Also, I'd like to ask if is it ok to author the wmv's i have right away or do i have to convert them to other file types such as mpg2, avi, vidx, etc. to achieve good quality dvd?

You're losing a lot of quality by converting from mpeg to WMV, then back to mpeg for DVD.

You can use ConvertXtoDVD - Very good program.
