    I've been using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter for a while now, and I really can't say that I understand either one of them, but they're easy enough to use that I haven't had any problems copying disks with them. But in the past, after using them, I would have BUP, IFO, and VOB files on my hard disk, which I could then use to watch the videos on the computer without having to load the DVD. But now, when I copy a disk, all I have left on the hard disk is the ISO file, and I can't find any way to get the others. Have I accidentally changed a setting? How do I get my BUP, IFO, and VOB files back?

    Thanks.

    Yes you have changed settings. Both apps can rip to disc (folder with VOBs & IFOs and stuff) or to ISO.
    RTM.

    Here's an easy set-up guide...

    I used to have a link to a really good guide for using DVD Decrypter with DVD Shrink but the DVD police had the website shut down.

    While trying to find the old guide, I found this one. It looks pretty good.

    You'll need Acrobat Reader to view it.

    Here's an updated guide using DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter...

    RTM = Read The Manual
    RTFM = Read The F*ing Manual - usually this is the second or third call after the initial RTM call.

    I see.
    Well, one thing I learned very quickly when I first found these programs was that the "guides" were pretty iffy, at best. I'm not complaining; hey, it's free software, and it's pretty good stuff! But I couldn't get much out of the guides, so I just winged it. And, as is shown by Darrell's posts, there is not "one" manual. There is a conglomeration of different people's interpretations, some of them more clearly written than others.

    So, guns1inger and DarrellS, thanks for the info.

    I just took a look at the links posted by DarrellS. Now these guides were written for me; definitely not like the old ones!

    Thanks Darrell!

    You're welcome. I wish I could find the one I was talking about. It's the best one I've ever seen. Great graphics and easy to follow, step by step instructions.

    I'll try and search through some of my old back-up CDs and see if it's on there somewhere. I like to save my IE favorites when I'm not too frustrated during a system recovery and I may have the website on a CD somewhere.
