I don't understand yet how I can make a DVD-Video, with a menu, subtitles, etc. Can somebody explains or gives me some link which I can learn how to make this thing, but remember that I'm a begginer.
Also, how I can make an avi from a DVD. I know that on this site exists many guides but ... I'm not sure with more things and I don't understant them.
I need some "beginners help" from a good personl.![]()
Thank you very much.

You need to read some of those guides and try things out. Different solutions suit different people.Originally Posted by Tudy

Find guides that explain these steps and try them. Many use freeware, shareware or applications with free-trials, so it doesn't cost anything more than your time to experiment and find what suits you. As bugster stated there's many ways to go about it, most likely you already have the software needed either preinstalled on your machine or something that came with your DVD burner if you purchased one. They are commonly reffered to as all-in-ones and can take you from capture to a finished disc, they are limited in their abilities but they are good for getting your feet wet. There's some listed here.Originally Posted by Tudy

Unless you have a specific reason for converting to AVI you don't have to, you can rip the footage off the DVD as is in it's original format which is mpeg-2. You want to convert video as little as possible to maintain quality. Also, how I can make an avi from a DVD.
DVD Decrypter works well for that. There's a lot of other software that will do the same. -
Ulead DVD Moviefactory is capable of taking a video file, creating menus, probably subtitles (although I've never tried), converting everything to the corrrect format (authoring) and burning to DVD. For an all-in-one the quality is pretty good as it uses the Mainconcept MPEG2 encoder and it isn't that expensive to buy. Before you committ hard earned cash to it, there is a 30 day free trial available for download from www.ulead.com. This will get you started, once you know what you are doing then you can start experimenting with different applications to do the different bits of the process.
To convert DVD to avi, try DVDx (search for it under Tools to the left). -
This brings me to the question - does ulead moviefactory support subtitles?Originally Posted by Richard_G

Looking at the Ulead website, they make no mention of subtitles in DVD Moviefactory. Try the free download and see. DVD Workshop can do multiple subtitles, and a lot more too, but as it is more of a Pro user product is a bit more expensive.
