  1. Hi there a friend got me a Hitachi DZ-MV730A there is NO Software just a A/V plug for the s-video and left,right, videio cables on the Cam........

    It does record right to the 8mm DVD-R...

    My question is this what is good software for video editing and making DVDs for my family home moives...also I can take picture that sotre on a SD card or the 8mm DVD-R....

    Look at it this way, any software they would have supplied for free would have been a trial or crippled version, so you aren't missing much.

    But you need a MPEG editor. If you look to 'Tools' <<< you will see 'Video Editors (Basic) and Video Editors (Advanced).

    I rarely edit MPEG, but when I do I use MPEG-VCR. It's an inexpensive editor. Free is Cuttermaran. Everyone seems to have their favorites. I'll leave it to others to make more suggestions.

    Some of the advanced ones can get very expensive.
