  1. I just formatted my computer because it was full of crap and viruses, and reinstalled all of my video editing (this is a XP computer btw). Now before i formatted, i could capture vid no problem, just plug in the camcorder and restart and its ready to go. Now the camcorder doesn't get recognized. When i go into pinnacle studio 7 it says it can't initialize the dv drivers or something along those lines. The camera is a canon zr mcv 25 or something like that.

How can i get this to work?

I should probably mention its through FIREWIRE... miniDV camcorder.

  2. There are a couple of issues with XP and firewire cards/DV cameras. First, make sure in you control panel that the firewire card is functioning correctly. If it is, the best thing to try is removing the firewire card, booting the system, shutting it down and stuff the card back in. I was having the same problem, surfed countless forums for help had 50 tricks from 50 experts that didn't work. Finally I pulled the card out to see if it worked in another computer...it did, and when I put it back in to my XP machine I had no more problems. It's a 10 minute attempt to fix a problem I'm sure you have wasted days scratching your head about.

    Cheers!

  5. is your firewirecard found under installation? -what happens when you plug in the cam? does XP tell you that a AV device is found?
