As some of you know I upgraded from the Hauppauge 150 to the 250 because I was having sound issues.
The 250 working well. No audio issues. I have a couple of 5.1 cards lying around and I'm curious.
1. But... can I use a different audio source for capturing? My gut says no, because onboard of sync issues.
How hard is it to capture video through audio line in and resync later? Any steps (and tools) would be appreciated.

Since the PVR-250 encodes both the audio and video on-board you can't have it use an external audio card.
In theory you could capture audio via another program while capturing video with the PVR-250 and then mix the two later.
But it's doubtful your 5.1 audio cards can capture 5.1 audio. They probably just play 5.1 audio. -
AC3 Plugin and AC3 Filter
Does your sound card have Optical Inputs/Outputs in the rear?
You could capture the sound through software.
Still a WinTV PvR-150 fan here, no audio problems for me!Best Regards,
