Have a HP 9100i thats a 8x4x32x, sells at frys or walmart for $99. I like it because you can use the new 99min. CD-R's and they will burn all the way out to 99min.
Works with NERO 5.5 or Adaptec 4.02
I have used the cheapiest CD-R's you can buy, Fry's 50 packs for $9 and it burns them all. -
I recommend the Sony internal 12x burner. I forget the model #. I've had mine for over a year and have used it heavily. I bought mine for the bargain price of $149 (at a time when burners were regularly $200-300 and up). Today, the same burner goes for $79. I highly recommend this unit. You can easily find this unit at Best Buy and Comp USA.
One note: The software that comes with it is lacking. Luckily, my mp3 player came with Adaptec EZ CD which I use for data CDs. For audio, I've always used CDRwin (which is fantastic software offering tremendous control). I've yet to burn a VCD, but I plan on using CDRwin. -
just get a Burner with Burn-proof its worth te investment. u dont mess up any cds.. kinda xpensive but worth it. if u dont want to . go to circuit city they hav a sony writer 12x8x32x for 99$ with a 30$ mail in rebate.. it has 4mb buffer but witout burnproof
