do you mean that a strip round the entire screen is not being displayed? this is entirely normal, all televisions have something called overscan. do a google search, and try and find the technical manual for your TV so you can adjust your overscan.

  4. I believe "cupboard" is talking 'bout getting into your tv's "service mode" which has pincushion settings (like a pc monitor).

But be careful, as this has also settings for other stuff for your tv which u don't want to touch. Anyway, if you do want to try it, make sure u write down all the default settings on a piece of paper before changing any of them.

    Overscan:

The area at the edges of a television tube that is covered to hide possible video distortion. Overscan typically covers about 4 or 5 percent of the picture.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

Yes, you can adjust it. Try adding borders on the left, right, top, and bottom and more of the overscaned picture will show up on your T.V. Try centering to something like 332x227 with your encoder.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

manman, your TV -is- adjustable, all sets are. do a google search with your TV model number and overscan as your search, someone somewhere will know how to enter service mode, or setup mode as it's sometimes called. it is quite common for the overscan to be uneven. fixing your overscan is better than encoding at a different frame size, as your next TV/someone elses TV will not be the same......

    give this a go

    5.10 SAMSUNG
Read the _ SERVICE MODE WARNING _ before proceeding.

With TV powered off press: [mute], [1], [8], [2], [power]

Television will power up in service mode and GAMMA GAIN1 will be displayed on the screen.
Use [mute] and the [menu] button to move values up and down.

Use the [volume +] and [volume -] keys to move to other adjustements.

Use [add] to save the settings.

If you're attempting to adjust color or geometry errors, you'll need the Video Essentials DVD, Laser Disc or some other source of test material.

  13. THIS GUIDE IS FOR SAMSUNG TV SETS ONLY

Caution: Improper use of the service menu can damage your TV and possibly void the warranty. Enter the service menu at your own risk.

Caution: It is advised that you acquire the service manual before changing any service menu settings. Make sure you write down original values before changing. Don't touch codes if you don't know what they do, and don't run an unfamiliar setting from minimum to maximum to see what it does - you could damage your TV.

    Step 1
Power On your tv set from its front panel (just to make sure! )

    Step 2
Power Off your tv set with your remote control (This is a must apparently! ).

    Step 3
Your tv set should be off now. Try all these codes one by one until you find the one that works with your tv by using your remote control. You'll need to repeat steps 1 & 2 for each of these codes though.

    a) Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power ON
    b) Mute, 1 , 8, 3, Power ON
    c) Display, 1, 8, 2, Power ON
    d) Display, 1, 8, 3, Power ON
    e) Sleep, P.STD, Mute, Power ON
    f) P.STD, Menu, Sleep, Power ON
    g) Display, Menu, Mute, Power ON

    Step 5
Your TV set should be on now, so fix your picture. To move up and down between Service Codes, use Channel+ and Channel-. To increase and decrease the Setting Value, use Volume+ and Volume-.

    Step 6
To exit service menu, power off the TV from the remote. This will save the new settings.
