  1. Hi
    Can someone please explain the difference
    between PHOTO CD and say putting
    a bunch of JPEGS on a cd.I have a
    Wharfdale 750s and want to put photographs
    as stills on cd,the manual states DO NOT TRY
    TO PLAY PHOTO CD.

  2. Kodak has/had a prorietary format for Photo CD's. It is a compression scheme that would allow you to extract different formats from the same file. The photos are scanned at 4K by 4K resolution. They look great but you need special decode SW to read it. The images can then be converted to jpegs. The Picture CD's that you can get are generally 1K by 1K.

    Thanks for the reply ziggygt,I was thinking
    the DO NOT TRY TO PLAY PHOTO CD statement
    was a warning that physical damage to my player
    could result if I tried to play photo cd.

  4. It will not damage it. It's the format on the disk not a physical thing.

    Kodak sold a CD/DVD player that would play photo CD's. It was ahead of it's time. I wish it existed now.

  5. The Apex 5131 plays Kodak Photo CD's....
    I've never tried it though.
