What exactly do menus do for you? Do they enable you to navigate through out the disc?

    Thanks,

  2. Depends on how you make the menu. x(S)VCDs do not support 'true menus' (like DVDs). You can however make a still or motion MPEG that sort of acts like a menu. You can assign entrypoints (which work like chapters) and use the keypad on your remote to choose said point.

However, you can't have an interactive menu where you select/highlight different choices (that's DVD only).

Take a look at some of the authoring faqs to the left for more info.

  4. It was real confusing to me at first too.
A menu is just a picture telling you what to do. You can't select or do anything like in a real DVD menu. it's just something that explains you what controls can be used and what there's to see.

Here is a good example of when to use Nero's VCD menus:

I ripped a blues clues (yes i have a 2 yr old) dvd with multiple episodes. Now I convert them so each episode is seperate. I can fit 3 episodes on 1 VCD so using Nero's menu creator I have 3 pictures on the main screen when it starts playing.

Then I can select which episode to play by pressing 1,2 or 3 on my remote and it will play the corresponding episode.
