  2. Welshslider,

What you have made is probably what is known as a mini-DVD. These work on most PCs, but the software in a standalone DVD player is somewhat less sophisticated, so it won't always work. You can check the compatibility of many DVD players on this site. My own will navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder, then play each of the VOB files, but will not play any menu or sound <sadly>.

As to software/methods that can do what you want - Roxio VideoPack 5 does allow you to put motion menu thumbnails on a static background, but that is commercial software & I'm not sure it's still available. The only other way I have managed to do this is to use a video editor package, such as Premiere or (preferbly) Vegas Video - this will allow you to have a background mpeg, with smaller "picture-in-picture" mpeg movies, just like a DVD. You can then render this project to a single mpeg file that can be used in VCDEasy as a menu file. Somewhat time consuming and a little expensive in terms of commercial software.

'Fraid I don't know any current freeware video editors that will do that, but I'm sure someone will provide a name in the forum.

    Hope that helps
