    Dear All,

Anybody uses Windows XP Movie Maker to make good video captured from DV?

I have been trying it with various formats, but still can not get any acceptable video.

    Any pointers or suggestions?

    Thanks so much.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reponse.

Do you capture the video to AVI?

Do you create VCD? If yes, how can I get the correct size of AVI from MovieMaker?

    Thanks again.

Definitely. For simple jobs and taking DV-AVI from firewire, it's very good. For anything else, especially (@&#$ WMV crap, I don't like it. But you have to get MM2 - the original MM isn't nearly as good.

poshanchang: Save as a DV-AVI out of Movie Maker 2, and then use TMPGenc to encode to mpeg. MM2 doesn't do any MPEG1/2 encoding.

  6. Does MovieMaker 2 work under Windows 2000? I know it won't work under Win98 but since 2000 and XP share similar kernals, I would have thought that a lot of software would be interchangable between the two operating systems.

I tried to use it with my Pinnacle PCTV and it errors out saying something else must be using the card.

I just use IuVCR to capture now.

I've tried, can't get it installed on 2000. It would probably work if the software could get installed.
