    I have this svcd file that I have already burned onto a disk. I am trying to convert it by extracting the mpg with isobuster, loading into dvd2avi and then encoding with tmpgenc. I would llike to use the header trick, but I don't know how to since the movie is already on a disk. I have the original avi/divx file, but I deleted the encoded file. I am wondering can I just encode the video file using the vcd template instead of the svcd template, or if I should encode to mpeg-2 like it is intended and then use the header trick to be able to view it. I guess if I had the mpg file still, this would not be so hard, but I don't.

    I have already tried to extract mpg with isobuster, but tmpgenc would not accept that for multiplex. So what can I do to be able to multiplex it? Can I acheive this with an image file and vcdeasy? I am very frustrated, but I know that this can be done. I just would rather do it the quickest way possible, being that my tmpgenc is taking like 15:00 to encode from .d2v to mpeg-1 (didn't used to take nearly as long, but that is another post I guess) Meanwhile, I am going insane trying to find out the best way to achieve my goal. Please, any help will be appreciated!

    Peace,

    Hi gudgirl357,

    try this trick.. may work for you too..

    * open DVD2AVI (v1.76) next,
    * drag your IMG file (or whatever it may be, *.NRG or whatever) into
    .. DVD2AVI (I've found that they can be opend and de-compressed)
    .. once opened successfully, just create your *.d2v file and frameserve
    .. it into TMPG. !!

    Can't say that anyone else here (or there) knows this trick. I've used
    this quite successfully in the past. So, you got it from me first, he he...

    That's about it.

  3. Header trick with SVCD Disk.

    Extract the video file from the SVCD with Isobuster, use Filter M2F2 frames. you will get something like AVSEQ001.mpg. Start TmpGenc and select files->mpeg tools, simple multiplex. Open your .mpg file as both audio and video source. Select an outputfile name and directory. Now select Mpeg-1 Video-CD (non standard) from the drop down list and click run. Burn this file to CD with Nero as VCD. When it complains, tell it to turn off standards compliance.

    Note that this trick only works with some DVD players.

    Hope this helps
