  1. Just to let you know that althought Mainconcept is faster, Tmpgenc will still deliver excellent results at the cost of speed....plus the price is right.

For the price of Mainconcept....you are better off buying a faster processor.

When they make a product with the versatility of Tmpgenc with the speed of mainconcept with built in AC3....then thats a product worth buying.

Mainconcept just is not worth the price when other products are cheaper or freee without a significant loss in quality.

For Tmpgenc users, run overnight.....you sleep.....it works

  2. Tmpgenc is very good if you don't mind waiting a couple of days to find out that your audio is out of sync and then have to start again. I've got a measly 600mhz celeron and I can still encode a 1 1/2 hour film in about 4 hours with mainconcept....without extracting audio first, even ac3 audio converts no problem, you can also use batch encoding, cut to size of svcd, aspect ratio etc etc and the quality is on a par if not better than tmpgenc. You just load your divx files in and out come the perfect svcd's not long after.

  3. A duron 1.3 only costs 30 bucks.

A XP-AMD 2000 only costs 50 bucks and will do a video in 2 hours using CQ.

If you using a Celeron 600....thats like using a 486 chip.

For 100 bucks you can get a fast chip and board.....
