What applications are people using to author/burn a DVD with AC3 sound. I captured a movie with 5.1 but I'm not having much luck finding software that accepts the audio format.

Well, I tried to remux the ac3 file I made with the video file using Tmpgenc. That worked fine. But, when I burned it to DVD using Ulead Movie Factory, the result was awful. No 5.1 sound amongst other things. Can anyone suggest software they have had ac3 success with?

I use Ulead DVD workshop. I use TMPGEnc to mux the AC3 audio with the m2v video, this creates an mpg file with ac3 audio which workshop will accept. Works a treat.

Check out Vegas Video 4 + DVD. Sonic Foundry website. The DVD package includes 5.1 Dolby Digital encoding.

Thanks for the feedback, videoarts. Looks like I'm going to have to wait it out a little bit. $599 is a bit steep for my blood right now. 8)

I think you need the full version of SpruceUp to use the AC3 feature.
Even though it's no longer sold, you can solve this problem if you try hard enough.
If you manage to get a working version, let me know and I'll provide a quick guide on getting the AC3 to work if you need it. -

Oops forgot the main part of my post. I would suggest DVD Maestro. It is the end all of all authoring progs, except Scenarist, which is WAY too confusing for me to use. Anybody have a good guide for it

DVD Maestro's not sold any longer, either. Its nice that you guys have "access" or know of access to these programs, but it doesn't help me. -
MJDore ... check this link out. It already answers your questions about using the full version of SpruceUp to get your 5.1 sound
