i need help with virtualdub: i got mr.deeds that .avi and i am converting it into an .mpg to burn to a vcd, using TMPGEnc and virtualdub. Well when i open the movie in virtualdub this comes up:

virtual dub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 13557 ms of skew from the video strea. If this is unaxxeptable, decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constan bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 129.4 +16.1 kbps)

is there anybody out there that can help me fix this problem, so i can have sound to the movie, if so please reply and thanks for your time.

Well, I know of two solutions:

    1. Use the MPEG2/AC3 mod for Virtual Dub to avoid this AC# error. Click here.

    2. Use Gold Wave to make your wave file without using Virtual Dub. Click here.

  6. Virtual Dub is a freeware avi tool, so no one's getting into any trouble here. Try this link:

    http://www.digital-digest.net/downloads/files/virtualdub/vdub_mp3_freeze.zip

This should let you open up those Vbr avi files.

    do this

open the file in virtual dub. when the vbr note comes up check ok and open it. then from the file menu check audio then check full processing mode. then check audio again and check conversion. then check 44100, 16 bit, hi quality and stereo. then go to the file menu and save as wav the new wav will have a constant bit rate, you can also choose from the file menu to save aa avi but make sure under video that you choose direct stream copy. if you open the new avi vdub will no longer give you the vbr warning

  9. If the full processing mode gives an error too then try this:
    - direct stream copy with vdub
    - open the wave file in Nero Wave Editor
    - save as PCM wav
    - use that wave as audio source in TMPGenc

You should have the sound in synch then. Worked for me
