    There was a time when you could start msn in invisible (offline) mode, so you could see who was online but at the same time you seemed to be offline to everyone else.
    I found this useful if I was only one for a minute or two, and then didn't have to apologise to my friends that 'I have to go, sorry, can't talk now'.
    Does anyone know how to do this (I'm running XP), there's no option for this in the settings.

  3. I did a search of the Microsoft Knowledge Base and no results turned up so I am guessing it can't be done in this version of MSN.
