  1. I need some help tweaking powervcrII for best quality. Which GOP setting working best? Also, is there a way to get a good MPEG2 setting that willplay in dvd players like SVCD? I can get decent MPEG1 recording by bumping up the bitrates. I still think there are some tweakers on here who have some optimum settings. Thanks.

  3. ill venture a reply
in vcr II i capture all my stuff at 720x480 with a bitrate of around 7500.
    turn on video smoothing ,
once captured encode to format of your choice and ill swear you cant tell the original from the svcd!
i made my own profile and tweaked until i got the best looking video there are some other areas that y ou can increase the quality of the settings . email me if you are interested

in my opinion capyuring directly to svcd or vcd is not the way to do it! i capture my tv shows with these settings and they look just like the tv and i encode them to vcd!

  4. Thanks. I am going to play with mastering to a high bitrate MPEG-I and then encode it down with TMPGENC unless I can get TMPGenc to open MPEG-11 and convert to VCD>......
