  1. I have been using vcdgear to convert .dat(vcd movies) to mpg format regularly.

Problem that I have just encountered is:

vcdgear fails to open the .dat file in the mpegav folder so stumping me from converting it.
It says it cannot open it.
It does not happen on every disc.
It seems to be very unpredictable, also removed and reinstalled it but to no avail.

Would it be possible it was the way the original was produced(software)

    Any ideas--------- y`all

  2. Maybe it's the disc, have you tried copying the .dat to the computer just to make sure it's readable? There is also other tools to do that.
