  1. Hi everyone,
    I am just wondering if anyone has this DVD player and can recommend what they think is the best cd brand for VCD burning. The reason is I have used several brands lately (verbatim, memorex, etc) and some cds seem to play better than others (most have a bad quality though)

    Another question;
    I checked my dvd player manual - it says VCD maximum playback time time is 74 minutes and CD must be equipped with PBC.
    What if i have 80 min cd can i record all 80 and still play it?
    What is PBC and how do i know if CD has it?

    Thanks for help.

  2. PBC stands for PlayBack Control. Basically any software that prepares a VCD 2.0 compliant disc will take care of that for you. DVD PictureShow does it, and I'm sure others do too.

    Unless you use super cheapo CDs, I doubt they will make a difference. And the quality should be blamed on how the VCD was prepared, rarely the disc will be the culprit. Remember, VCD is MPEG-1, which isn't all that great to begin with.

  3. Thanks!
    I have another question;

    Is that remotely possible that standalone dvd player would play better CD-RW than CD-R?

    Sometimes I notice that all glitches and minor skips dissapear when I record to CD-RW, although I am not sure whether it is the case in general or my DVD player is mad.
