    i load the avi to virtualdub (XVID) when encoding with tmpgenc there is no sound!
    i tried to rip the sound from the Avi file but i get bad audio file ...please help!

    Look at the audio compression in File/File Information. If it says
    Unknown (tag 2000) it's AC3 audio. Download a VirtualDub version with AC3 support then.
