  1. I have made my svcd compliant mpeg in tmpg thru frameserving from Adobe Premiere. I have then demultiplexed the mpg and remultiplexed with the Enreach Multiplexor to make a .mps file. i also have 2 image files with the correct parameter for svcd pal(480*576) for the start item and a menu. I run I Author and use the wizard. I link my chapters in and everything adds in fine. The problem is when i hit the create disc icon. It begins the disc creation making the .cif file. It encodes the two image files and then says passing 3-converting to sector mode. i author then says creating PBC. Then an error pops up saying "an unknown error occured while accessing an unknown file". i hit ok and it locks up the entire program and i have to end task it.

    Anyone had any similar probs??

if not could anyone suggest another program similar to i author which would let me create seamless chapters and menus for SVCD.

  2. TSCV...this is the best svcd seamless chapter maker proggie. It can do things i-author can't do. I believe you can find it in the tools section but if not here is the link

I still think I-Author is the single best svcd authoring program around.

It does have alot of bugs in it though LukeyWukey. First off I can't stress enough how much better the program is if you author it manually instead of using the wizard. The wizard just limits your options and makes it harder to use in my opinion.

Anyway first check the path of all files which you are using in your svcd. I-Author has some strange bug where it will give you an error if the path is too long. So for instance instead of c:\mysvcd\matrix\matrixcd1\, just try c:\matrix1.

Try removing one picture and then the other to see which file or both is causing the error. Double check everything.

Lastly you might need a fresh re-install, all those patches and things can cause compatibility issues sometimes.

  4. adam, perhaps it is still limited by the old (?? ISO Level 1 -- not sure of the name, correct me if I'm completely wrong) naming system (i.e., total directory and file name length must be < 32 characters).

    Regards.

Your probably right. I-Author is pretty ancient.
