I originally posted this on the [H]ard|Forums but got redirected here so I hope you can help:
I have three PC's.
One is an AMD XP in a KT7 with a Audigy Platinum. The other is an old PIII with an SB Live! oem card, and the other is a P4 in an IT7-MAX2 mobo using the onboard audio. However two of these machines have a problem: The PIII and P4. Sometimes when I try to play DivX films through them I get an error - even when I just highlight the film it occurs (the preview pane causes it).
The error is
"invalid audio but not signaling an error." At line 483 of e:\dx8_2\multimedia\dshow\filterus\
avi\avimsr\aviindex.cpp. Continue? (Cancel to debug).
If I click Yes it keeps reappearing. If I click no or cancel then explorer dies and I have to restart it via Task Manager which also takes my email out (I can't recieve email until I reboot). All the machines have the same codecs installed, so I guess it would be something to do with the hardware but what? But why would it be something to do with the hardware? I originally thought it was the Audigy being fully 5.1 surround, but I my IT7 set to 5.1 and it still does it.
This is really annoying - especially when copying files across the network and stuff. Hope someone can help.
Thanks, G.
