dvd rom

I wanted to find out if any of you would know the answer to this problem. I have a dvd rom on my computer and for some reason when i insert a dvd into it, nothing happens. The computer seems to show the drive is there but the light blinks several times and then goes off. When I try to go to my computer and click on the E. Drive (dvd rom), it tells me to insert a disk when there is one in there already. Any help would be appreciated!

had the same problem last night,i had 4 dvd's and only one of them would work with the dvd rom.they worked fine in my dvd player.
since i didn't have any cd/dvd cleaner i just ran some water on them and used TP to dry them.
if you try it,dont wipe in a circle,go across the disk and use something soft so you dont scrach the disk.
well the three disks worked after wards.

if cd's wont work then you have some other problem.

I guess I have another problem. Nothing happens with cds and dvds.
