  1. Hi,

I'd like to put some DivX and VCD movies into a DVD-R, if possible with a menu to choose the one I'd like to play. Which tools will I need to learn in order to that ?

You'll have to convert your DivX movies to a dvd compliat format, i believe that vcd is compatible with dvd but audio needs to be resamlped to 48khz to be truly comliant.

Use TMPG to encode your DivX and most any DVD authoring software will allow you to create a menu, but i would probably suggest Ulead DVD Movie Factory, it's far from the greatest but it's pretty easy to use and not that expensive.
try this guide for converting DivX to dvd http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm
    Here's a Ulead Guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdmoviefactory.htm

You can also go to http://www.doom9.org he has a good collection of guides also
