    Well the only "Dongle" I know is a protection device. In the old days they could be a cartridge that plugged into the back of your computer, then when you run the program that was protected it checked to see if the dongle was present before it ran. I believe AutoCAD used one in its early days.

    Pardon the following. However, I am going with personal experience with this one. At my job, dongles are devices that connect a patch cable (i.e., cat 5 or 6) to a PCMCIA Type 1 card on a laptop. I am not sure if that is what you were referencing though. Laters.

  4. Well I currentlyhave two dongled computers, aka hardlocked that is the software will only run if the 'dongle' r hardlock is pluged into the paralell port.....

    EVERYTHING can be cracked ! So yes dongles can also be cracked. Since there is still software involved in checking the hardware (Dongle) just change the software so that is doesn't check for the dongle
