  1. I have the following:
    P3-550, Fasttrak-66 2 7200rpm HD's in raid 0 config.
    Win2k.

    I just re-installed Win2K, SP-2, DX8a+video cap update, latest drivers from ATI, MMC-7.1.

Why the heck can't I select AVI resolution > ???x240 AVI. Is this possible? I would like to capture at ???x480.

Please help. I'm getting to the point of getting a new cap card.

    Thank you all in advance.

  2. directshow capture won't allow this. and those are the drivers for win2k. if you can dual boot to 98/ME you can use 4.12.6292 drivers for full VFW support.

also you can just do high bitrate I-frame only MPEG capture, this is essentially MJPEG, but without the 4 GB AVI file limit (the FAT32 4GB limit is still in effect unless you're on NTFS)

(does your card have the Rage Theater capture chip or the BT829? if you really do want to get rid of that card, i may be interested in it for my second computer (the monitor is a tv and i'd like it to capture) but only if it's a Rage Theater).

  3. Can you tell me if there is a step by step procedure for fixing this. Are the 'tweaked' VFW drivers that people are talking about my solution to this problem? I really want to capture in higher res.

The card I have is the 16 meg version not the pro 32 meg, so no theatre chip.

    thanks

  4. try the 5.13.1.192 drivers for win2k. then get the VFW-WDM wrapper __for win2k__ (will have DLL's with a version 5.x.xxx.xxx, where the one for win9x has 4.xx.xxx.xxx) install that, and i think you should be ok to use virtualdub, but the ATI AVI capture is still *x240. like i said, you could do MPEG-I-Frame only, that's about the same as MJPEG anyway.

(some later 16M versions have the theater, not just the 128 Pro)

  5. Using the exact same setup as that, I'm able to capture at 720x480 using VirtualDub, if I want (humongous data rate, though). You might try that.
