  1. Is anybody else having a problem with SpruceUP setting chapters?

When I use the scrubing slider to scroll through my .mpg file so I can set chapters, a couple of annoying things happen.

First, the slider does not slide smoothly, it jumps in three to five minute increments. I have to use the arrow keys to move in one second increments which makes setting chapters in a 45 minute movie a long process. I have read the SpruceUP help, doom9 and vcdhelp but there is no indication of a key combination, nor any that I have tried, to make this process any easier.

Second question, when making links from one menu title page to another, I use an arrow > button to go to the next menu but then it asks me what button on page two to link it to and all of my chapter image buttons go blue. All I want to do is go to the next menu page of six chapters and allow me to select the chapter I want to go to.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS???
    Thank you

  2. Can't help you with your 1st question, sorry.

As for your second question, this is what I do.

Go to your second (or third etc) chapter menu. Add the button. Now drag the target menu screen from the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen onto your new button. What you get by doing this is pressing the button will take you to the selected menu screen and highlight the 1st chapter on the screen.

    Hope this helps.

Bugster, good reply to the second one, I'll try that myself.

TSChris, to the chapter scrubbing issue I actually find this feature quite useful as it jumps to what I deem an ideal gap between chapters - however, to find it a little easier selecting lesser chapter gaps I actually drag the scrubber to the LEFT - it still skips to the right but as you are already dragging to the left it moves to a smaller gap more smoothly.

Give it a try, it might work for you !!

  4. Part 2: What I do is that I first create blank menus with buttons back and forward. Link them together. Then I create chapter buttons (don't overwrite buttons) and rearange them.

  5. It sounds like q1aqza and I are the only ones that have noticed the issue with the chapter scrubbing slider jumping in large increments and it doesn't bother him/her. q1aqza, I will try scrolling it to the left, thank you.

How are the rest of you navigating through your videos to place chapters?

I can key in a time into the 00:00:00:00 window and I was hoping it would jump to that part of the video but it will not. Does anyone know why you can enter a time if it doesn't move to that point in the time line?

    Thanks

I noticed that too and it doesn't bother me too. I jus "jump" into 5 minutes increment and then (If I remeber right) I use keyboards arrow keys to adjust right or left by "jumping" small skips.

An yes... I also have no idea why you can eneter position if it doesn't go there

It doesn't bother me much either because I usually only use chapters as a quick way of skipping throught the movie to get 'close' to a prticular scene or restart watching where I left off when interrupted. For this chapter points approx 10 mins apart is sufficient for me. Getting them on specific scene changes is not important.
