Since about a month ago, my Windows Media Player has been acting up whenever I play an MPEG file [from hard drive and from VCD]. The videos play fine if I just let them run, but if I move the slider on the progress bar then they will speed up to unnatural speeds. Pausing and unpausing doesn't cause any probems, however.
I have no idea what could be causing this problem. I do recall installing and uninstalling some codecs about a month ago. Does anything think that could be the problem? Help would be very much appreciated.

Try the I-VCD player located in "Tools" or d/l WMA codec pack at:
http://www.mpegx.com/video.asp?dcat=VideoCodec -
The problem exists even with I-VCD. AND I just upgraded Windows Media Player, but it still speeds up.
