I am using bbmpeg to encode avi files to SVCD format. The filter settings that came up capped out my video stream below the 2423 (?) max needed to be SVCD compliant. But when I used Ulead Movie Factory to burn to SVCD it told me (very kindly), that my audio stream was not compliant. What do I need to do to keep my audio in line with the standard?
By the way, my very helpful Movie Factory asked me if I wanted to burn to XSVCD, which I did and it worked fabulously. This introduced me to the wonderful world of XSVCD, which I now plan to inhabit regularly. But I am still curious about what I need to do to get a more broadly useable standard SVCD that I can share around.

Svcd audio must be 44100kHz, 0-384kbits, mpeg1 audio layer II. Most divx are going to have 48kHz audio so you probably just didn't downsample to 44100kHz. As you have noticed, most dvd players will still play 48kHz Svcds just fine, but there are those that will cause problems. For best compatibility always downsample but on most setups this is not necessary.
