  1. i checked the forum and seen this topic covered but havent found a solution to my prob so far. i tried various SVCD DVDrips so far and none worked. i demuxed them and used various SW but none but one accepted the mpg files rejecting them with the following error "Error : Number of fields ( 38 ) in GOP(# 2) or between sequence_header_code should be equal or smaller than 36"
i checked the guides and tried using the dvdpatcher and the mpegsequence maker. still not working.
does that really mean i have to transcode those svcd mpgs? just coze the GOP size aint acceptable for the authoring proggies? geez, they work when burned as SVCDs. now that i burn them onto a DVD-R its all so different? friggin annoying.
btw, the only prog that worked was myDVD which came with my sony dru-500a. but it only fit 2 800+ svcd mpgs onto one 4.7 gb dvd-r.

tried sonic scenarist, reeldvd, dvdit pe

btw, is there a prog that would let me add/change the GOP settings of a svcd mpg in a fast manner?

    thanks and any help appreciated.

I assume your converting existing SVCD's. With DVD Patcher you need to patch twice, first as a 352x480,import into your authorware. Then re-patch as 480x480 and re-import into your authorware.
You should put the mpeg from the disk on your HD,demux with Tmpeg Mpeg Tools into it's .m2v and .mp2 streams. Re-sample the audio to 48000 with Tmpeg, rename the new audio stream .mpa
Try SpruceUp to,it's available on this waebsite.
You don't need to re-encode the video, the authorware will import the m2v and then the mpa automatically.

  4. thanks, but thats not really the issue i guess. btw, i dont understand why you patch it twice and then re-import it again. i figured patch/import/save&close/re-patch/open....almost all authoring SW only check the compliance once, the first time you import as far as i could see.

my problems seems to be that reeldvd, scenarist and co seem to mock my svcd mpgs to have some GOP error (see first post). how can i fix that?

  5. DVDs have tighter GOP restrictions than SVCDs.

You can reencode the MPEG but you will lose a bit of quality but at least it'll work. Might try the half D1 resolution (352x480) which is similar to CVD. Most DVD authoring programs know how to handle that and the larger files.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  6. I've seen that exact same error when I was trying out Sonic ReelDVD 3.0 with a full 720*480 MPEG2 file.

I had previously burned that exact same file with Spruce DVD Maestro 2.9 and it didn't complain and played fine on my PS2.
(I don't know if DVD Maestro accepts SVCD resolutions though.
I never tried since SVCD files don't seem to play on my PS2 when burned on a DVD, however CVDs do).

Perhaps it has something to do with the "Restrict auto I frame insertion" in CCE.
Try having it checked when you transcode files.
(I think the equivalent for TMPGEnc is unchecking the "Detect Scene Change" option).
Not having this checked in CCE caused this error in DVDit PE for me :
"Could not complete the last command because: The GOP structure in the cell starting at 00:01:32:22 in PGC "pres 3" could not be broken into VOBUs".

  7. thanks all. i friggin hate that this seems all to be that complex. remember, they go mainstream now with dvd-r and therefore dvd video recording. cant believe its going premature again.
waaaay to go on this one.
