  1. Hi, can't figure this one out. I installed the nimo codec pack with the xvid mpeg4 codec on a friend's pc so she could watch a DVL xvid encoded movie, the vcd plays fine on mine, but is blocky and very distorted on hers, audio is fine though. Her dvd drive is ok, can't figure it out. Could any of the other codecs be causing a conflict?

  2. Ok, a few things here. xvid isn't "really" mpeg4, else we'd just call it mpeg4. But first and foremost, xvid is NOT a VCD. (or did you convert the xvid to VCD, or vice versa??) Her DVD drive shouldn't have anything to do with it. Also, try posting that to newbie conversion instead.

    hahh...

Actually, I would say xMPEG-4, as in divX, Xvid, bla, bla, bla.
all of these are variations of MPEG-4. So, xMPEG-4 it is.

  5. Well, in virtualdub is says its a xvid mpeg-4, so "whatever". The file is not encoded, I just burned it directly to disc. So yes, it is not a vcd. Still can't figure out why hers is screwed up. We both are use Windvd players. It won't even load in her WMPlayer. She has a pent II 333, with 96 mn ram, mines a 450 with 320 mb.

  6. @ ej: In the future, please refrain from posting the same question on more than one forum.

  7. It might be her weak computer. Your machine may only be a 100 or so mhz but you also have a 100mhz front side buss with her's being 66mhz. Thats roughly 1/3 more memory bandwidth. Simply put, she is very much underpowered. Heck, yours is barely strong enough for it. More RAM might help. Why dont you pull one of your large sticks out and place in her machine. Even though yours should be PC100 it should work in her PC66 based system. Giving her AT LEAST a total of 128mb might be enough. Try it, its only a few minutes of time. Likely her best bet is a newer system.

    Hi
The x-vid codec in nimo is crap.
There is a better seperate one available here

    http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file=XviD_Install.exe

Well it worked better for me anyway.

  9. I finally got it to work, uninstalled nimo, reinstalled just specific codecs in the pkg, and a new xvid codec I found, and it worked! Thanks everybody for your input...i wish there weren't so many $%^* codecs out there!
