I am using the trial version of Nero to burn my DVD's. I can burn ripped single layer DVD's with no problem but last night I tried to burn a .AVI movie but I got a coaster. Under Nero's options what should I use to burn MPEG's and AVI's? DVD-ROM(ISO), DVD(UDF/ISO), DVD-Video ? There are few more options but I do not know what they mean. Thanks for any suggestions.

  2. Hey there,

I am some what of a Newbie still but from what I have learned over the past months is that Nero only burns images not avi, or mpeg2 files. what you will need to do is load your avi up into tmpgenc and choose dvd ntsc or pal depending what you want. Then use a bitrate calculator to figure what bit rate you want. Have you used Tmpgenc before? Hope this helps.

If you burn anything as a dvd-rom (ISO) then it will be playable only on your computer. For a DVD to be playable on your set-top player, it must be authored with a DVD-authoring program and then burned in dvd-video mode. Read more in the guides about authoring, it's not a 1 step process.
