Downloaded a DVD.SCREENER.XviD movie, which came in two parts.
Using WinRaR to unarchived each part, I end up with two AVI files
totalling a little over 700MB each. Running each file thru VirturalDUB,
it shows the movie as being a NTSCfilm (23.976), and a running time
of a little over a hour each.
Using TMPGEnc v2.58.44.152 to encode the movie to SVCD, I go thru
all the steps that I've used before, but I end up with Bitrate settings
that are impossible to understand.
Proposed medium of an 80min CD-R shows a file size of 3.4GB, and
a movie running time of 169min. Using the default Avg. video bitrate
of 2520, uses 431% of the CD-R. Which I'm sure you know is impossible.
Lowering the percentage to my normal 99.98%/786MB, shows a bitrate
of 412. Which again is unacceptable. Figures for part two are about the
same.
Any ideas what may be going on? And of course a solution!
TIA

Why doesn't this work?
-
Since I haven't received any replies, I thought I'd try and help myself.
I decided to try and burn a portion of the movie and see what it looked
like. Granted the bitrate was only 400, but maybe the readings were
just wrong, and it didn't make a difference in the quality.
As soon as I finished the last setting and browsed to a directory to store
the mpg, I hit OK. It immediately crashed and closed TMPGEnc. Now I
am using the latest version, but prior to this I never had a problem with
an older version I was using.
Could the problem be software?
TIA for any help! Why doesn't this work? -
