Most people that I have talked to prefer the Liteon 16x drive.

That site dosn't seem to report which OS's were used in the tests.

The reason I mention this is because I'm never able to rip faster than about 2X using two different DVD drives and two different computers running XP Pro.

I have seen others post the same thing when running XP and suspect XP is a factor.

Three different DVD drives, actually. hey're on two different computers.

    Pioneer A-03 and DVD106.
The other is from a company called MadDog, but I don't know the model.

    The LTD-165H reads all DVD media(including DVD-RAM)and is ATA66,
    LTD-163 is ATA33.
