  1. Hey,

Here is what i am doing.

    SVIDEO to VCR
Coax out of VCR down 2 flights of stairs into another TV.

Here is the problem, i get 2 lines of white dots traveling up and down the screen. Is there anyway to fix this? They arent thick lines, but dots in a line. Is there anyway to fix this? Is it a sign of ground loop? It also happen when i try to hook up any vcr, down 2 flights of stairs and in to the tv.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

PS, they arent going directly down but throughout my house in the walls, so who knows what they are next to and touching.

Sounds like lines of interference from a weakened signal.

The coax out of the vcr to tv is usually a short run of 3 to 6 feet max. You have a minimum of 25 feet if the units are not across the house from one another and much more if they are.

I would suspect that the coax signal from the VCR is only mildly amplified for short runs and could use a booster.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  3. Hey,

Switching channels ALMOST made the dots go away, but created a worse problem of bad reception. So i'm guessing the signal is degrading. What is a good cheap, signal booster?

BUT, is scrolling line of white dots not sparsley spreaded, but not really close together either a common symptom of signal degredation?

I went to Radio Shack and got the parts to build that thing that is suppose to remove groundloop, the same that many posts on this board said it would fix, but the video looks IDENTICAL in everway, not better not worse.
