  1. Ok, I'm rather new to making VCD's. I've been doin it about 3 months. I'm using Nero 5.5.8.2. I've followed the tutorial on using Nero with Menu's. Now my problem is, not all of em will play on my stand-alone. When I put em in my PC to check the folders, the ones that don't play have the CDI folder, and the ones that do play, don't have the folder.
So, I'm wondering how can I have Nero NOT include the CDI folder when burning. I've tried unchecking the "Use CD-i application" as well as many other things. I honestly don't know how some of the VCD's included this folder and how others didn't. I just know that my DVD Player won't play the ones with the folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Ok so either no one knows or no one feels like helping. So I'm gonna go into a little more detail and maybe that'll help. Perhaps I'm off on what exactly I need to do.
For Both The Working and Nonworking discs, I'm using Memorex CD-RW's (my DVD Player doesn't support CD-R's). My CD Writer is HP CD-Writer+ 9100. I'm using Windows ME.

    Disk One (Will Play)
    It contains the folders
    EXT
    MPEGAV
    SEGMENT
    VCD
When I right click and choose properties, I get 2 Tabs.
    GENERAL
    Label - 7X04
    Type - Compact Disc
    File System - CDFS
    VOLUME
I recieve 5 collumns (Name, Type, Created, Size, Start)
with a list of 4 below. Under name there's (Checked)7X04 in the same row Under Type there's ISO 9660 and, Created - 10/24/2002, Size, 2MB, Start lists the length of the video's I'm using. 3 others which all have emply slots but show up, Under type, each list has "???" Everything else is blank.
I also recieve an alert that says "Could not get information of one or more volume(s)

    Disk Two (Won't Play)
    It contains the folders
    CDI (empty)
    EXT
    MPEGAV
    SEGMENT
    VCD
When I right click and choose properties, I get 4 Tabs.
    GENERAL
    Label - 7X04
    Type - CD-ReWritable Disc
    File System - CDFS
    SETTINGS
    Name - HP CD Writer+ 9100
    Type - CD-RW Drive
    Target ID: 0
    Firmware Revision: 1.0c

Media Type: CD-RW disc with unrecognized data. This disc can be formatted for read and write access.

    Current Read Speed - 4x
    Current Write Speed - 4x
    DIRECTCD WIZARD
    Eject Options (CDR disc only):

    Other Options:
(unchecked)Display disc creation options for blank media
    (unchecked)Display Eject Notification
    VOLUME
I recieve 5 collumns (Name, Type, Created, Size, Start)
with a list of 4 below. Under name there's an icon of a disc but no name listed, Under type, each list has "???" Under Time, it lists the length of the video's I'm using and everything else is blank
I also recieve an alert that says "Could not get information of one or more volume(s)

I tried using Ulead Movie Factory, and got the same thing as the disc that wouldn't play with 2 additional folders (Karaoke, CDDA, both of which were empty)

I hope this helps someone so that they are able to help me and once again, any help would be greatly appreciated.[/b]

did you use DirectCD to burn it?

That's why. DVD players will not play Cd-r or cd-rw's burned or edited with low level UDF packet writters like DirectCD.

    here's an idea.

Upgrade to Nero 5.5.9.17., it's free for you and their might be a CD-I bug in ur version that is fixed in the latest version.

if ur not using packet writter, it sounds like a bug in nero's CD-I system. I believe nero did have several CD-I bugs it fixed.

I believe the Cd-I folder is required for playback in standalone DVD player.
Why would you want to delete it?

  6. The CD-i application is required for White Book compliance but unless you have a CD-i player, you aren't going to notice either way.

However, I believe you should just leave it as it is (on the unlikely chance someone has a CD-i player).

It "shouldn't" affect playback on a DVD player either way unless Nero actually does have a bug in this regard.

    Regards.
