So I capture with VirtualDub at 29.97 (720x480) and its File Information reports # Frames as 85335 and the time as 47:27, which is correct.

I import that into Ulead Movie Factory to allow it to batch convert the clip to an MPEG, but it now thinks the duration is 222 seconds, and that's all it converts: about four minutes. Granted, I appreciate the savings in disk space, but I've got 5G sitting around with nothing to do.

The AVI is 28G, by the way, and there is room left.

Any ideas on what Ulead is thinking? I'm using the trial version, and I have every intention of buying it outright if I can make this work. I found that the quality of those four minutes in excellent.

I also have neoDVD ver 3, which came with the Sony burner, but its conversion to mpg is inferior to Ulead's. I reckon someone will suggest I use TMPGenc, but I'm going to have to spend money on that, too, when the trial is up, so I thought I'd just get Ulead.
