Newbie needs help & advice please

Hi all
Just a quick one-is it possible to convert mpegs &/or avi files so that I can watch them on my standalone DVD player on my TV & if it is what software do I need, etc ?

The answer to your first question is yes.

This site offers a lot of info so check it out. Hint: On the left you see a green section marked Howto. Maybe that's a good place to start. Look for Howto's explaining how to make a (S)VCD. Links to the software needed are under the "Tools" section also on the left. If you run into problems later on the search function on the forum may be really helpful. And of course you can ask questions using the forum, but that's something you figured out already.
