  1. Hi all...I really need some help here! I'm at the point where I've already created my mpeg file in TMPGEnc and am all ready to burn it into a VCD...however, it seems that most of the authoring software I've tried to use doesn't support burning to my external USB CD writer!

I've even created the .bin and .cue files with VCDImager and tried CDRWin but CDRWin says it can't find the device...I've tried VCDEAsy and noticed my CD Writer is not a supported device...*sigh!* you can see where I'm going here....I've even updated my ASPI layer (which of course is moot if I'm going external here...)

    ...any help, anyone?

  2. Help, anyone? I guess my question in short is, why doesn't most of the burning software out there recognize my CD-writer? It works fine for stuff normal stuff like copying discs and data...but why burning a VCD? I've even tried Nero and the "Write CD" has been disabled!

I have an external USB Sony CRX10U...

  3. I guess one method would be to check out various authoring software web sites for supported burner devices.
Then obtain the authoring software which is compatible to your burner.

if your drive will copy discs, then do this:
    make the image with VCDeasy.
use daemontools to mount the image as a virtual drive
do a cd copy of that "disc"
    should work like a charm.
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!

  6. fantomlord...I'm quite a newbie at this, so could you help me out a little here by giving me more info on how to:

    "make the image with VCDeasy.
use daemontools to mount the image as a virtual drive"?

    I'd rather appreciate the help!

thanks to both you and Ron Cahill for replying my post..

Go here and get daemon tools
    http://www.daemon-tools.com
it makes a pretend cd drive using your hard drive.
when you install and run it, it will display a little icon in your tool bar. Click on it and click on "Device 0" and then browse to the cue file you have already made.
This will load the (s)vcd movie file onto your pretend cd drive.
Use your normal burning software program and do a disk copy from the pretend cd drive to your usb recorder.

  9. UconN,

I've gotten daemon tools to work (tried playing the .dat file and it works) and am using CloneCD to do a disc copy, however, I get an error half way through...something about "MEDIUM ERROR"...I guess my burner just doesn't quite cut it huh?

I have another question...I opened the .cue file in Notepad to make sure that the path and filename of the .bin file was right and notice now that my .cue file has the Notepad icon. Just wondering if that might affect the way my .cue file is being burnt (?) Still dying to get this to work...

Medium Error?? <- better than a Fatal Error (those are deadly)
My first though is it sounds as if your cdr disk is bad.
    A couple of things...
Have you used that brand, style, type etc of cdr's already?
If so, you may have just happened across a bad one. If you havn't used that brand before, maybe your burner just doesn't like it.
If you're using clonecd - have you done a successful diskcopy with it already? are you doing a "copy on the fly" (hope not)
Your cue file's using notepad as a default won't affect it the burn.

  11. Firstly, CDRDAO cannot burn to external drives so you can't use VCDEasy to burn.

CDRWin may not support newer USB drives either.

Have you tried the newer versions of Nero? They can burn CUE/BIN images reasonably well.

  12. vitualis, I'll give it a shot...thanks for letting me know in advance about VCDEasy and CDRWin

UconN, I'm gonna use CloneCD to try and do a "regular" disc copy and see how that works...
