Help Please!! I recently bought a VCD that was recorded onto a CDR. After viewing the boards I realized my DVD player would not accept CDRs but would accept CDRW. The CDR does play on my computer so I know the original VCD works.
I have a Sony DVP-C650D DVD player. I'm using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 and Memorex CD-RW High Speed CDs. I have tried doing a straight copy CD to the CDRW but got an error. However, I compared file sizes to the original and they matched so I put the new VCD into the DVD and it played for 2 minutes then froze.
I tried again and formatted the CDRW using Adaptec's DirectCD software and then did a drag and drop from Explorer. The DVD player rejected that disk totally and shows "no disk" message on the screen.
Any ideas of how I can successfully copy the VCD so I can watch it with full stereo sound and screen on my tv/stereo system?
Thanks so much!
Lori

1. Erase the CDRW disk in your writing program. NOT DIRECT CD. You should then in theory have a 650 MB blank CDR(W).
2. On the left hand side of this page you will see a TOOLS link. Look for VCDGEAR. Download it.
3. Explore your VCD for the .dat file(s). (THis is the film)
4. Use VCDGEAR to convert the .dat into MPEG. (Make sure you select NTSC or PAL VCD Cmpatable format.
5. Then use your writing program to create a new VCD. -
Tommo,
I did just as you instructed and it works great. Thanks so much for help.
You've ended many frustrated hours of trying to get this working!!!
Thanks again,
Lori
