Still tearing my hair out. Have wasted 25 blank DVD-R at the moment. Not sure if this is typical of most people or if I'm being particularly unlucky.

From what I can gather, it looks like my Standalone Player (Marantz DV4100) checks the DVD-R (I presume it checks to VIDEO_TS.IFO file) for all the VOB files and if they are there it will confirm that there is DVD in the drive and starts to play the disc.

I have tried copying EVOLUTION (R2) which is only 4.68GB. By removing VTS_5.1.VOB, the movie is now small enough to fit on a blank DVD-R. If I burn this back it won't be recognised in my DVD. So I open NOTEPAD and save an empty text file and rename this to VTS_5.1.VOB. This burnt to a DVD will start playing in my Standalone (because all the VOB files are there) but only gets to the end of the Columbia Tristar advert and then freezes.

Should I be substituting a genuine VOB file.

Better again, how can I get the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to stop looking for VTS_5.1.VOB.

I've tried the method of extracting the main movie only and producing new VIDEO_TS.IFO files but this does not seem to work????

Does anyone who has a Marantz DV4100 been able to produce successful DVD-Rs?

Thanks once again.
