  1. Hi.

I tried to convert a couple of Angry Kid-movies (http://atomfilms.shockwave.com/af/animation/series/angrykid/), but TMPGEnc (with Quicktime-"addon") allways returns an errormessage.

Are there something with the movies that TMPGEnc doesn't recognize or?...

    Pleeze help.....

Download Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 3 from www.sonicfoundry.com
If you want to, you may get a crack for it but i'm not telling you where to get one - forum rules

Once you've downloaded and installed that then:
    1. You may drag a video onto the timeline.
    2. Just above the timeline and above the time ruler, when you get the cursor with the resize next to it, right click and choose set selection to project
    3. Click File then Render As
    4. Here's the fun bit - choosing the format! Once you've chosen your format click save and there you go!

After it's encoded you will no longer have a highly uncompatible quicktime video - you will have a video that opens in almost any program!

Quicktime Pro will allow you to export a mov file to an avi file. This can then be used as input to TMPEG to convert to MPEG1 VCD.

I don't know, I have never used Premiere. Vegas Video works great for me and I won't change to anything else for a long time.

On your note Russ I have tried using export in quicktime pro and it won't let me choose it most of the time. That happens for most of my .mov videos.

Well it works for me. Maybe this will work - make sure you have quicktime on your computer before you load the file. I have Quicktime 6 Pro and Vegas 3 on my PC and it works fine. My QT videos are that cartoon "Family Guy" on Fox.

  11. I use EO Video 1.3
It's very easy to use and can convert most of the formats to MPEG.
It can convert all the .MOV and even .RM and .AVI
    http://www.eo-video.com/download/Download.htm

The only downside is that it isn't freeware, but you can use it for 30days.

The most file formats, It converts ALL .MOV and ALL .RM
And yup, you can make MPEG 1, VCD MPEG 1, SVCD MPEG 2 & AVI.
AVI you can choose from: no compression, and 15 other compression formats incl. DivX 5.0.2.
Further there are the options PAL and NTSC. Output Size and Color Depth are adjustable. You can also "glue" all the files in the playlist into a single output file, or put a bunch of files that need to be converted into the playlist, select them as induviduals and hit convert, wait a couple of hours and it finished all the files. And as final option, you can split (each) output file, in Time [mms] or in Megabytes. The Registration is needed only for the conversion modes. Built-in Player and Windows Explorer are free.
(But it's easy to find, works with older versions that's all i can say about it)
I think it's a great program that can do all the conversion work I need.
I just created a file in TMPGEnc 2,57 and I'm doing something wrong because Nero sais it's an invalid file for VCD. I put it through EO Video 1.3
and there it goes, perfectly suited for VCD (or SVCD, whatever you like).
