  1. I don't know if it matters but I'm pulling at straws to find out why my scvd's look terrible from the dvd player but look great on the computer.
Trying to rule out one issue at a time.
So far, I have used music cd's burned at 16x, 8x, and 2x. no difference.

  5. Duuh!

You did ask that didn't you?

I am not sure how I can get that answer.

I use the wizard that opens with TMPGEnc and select svcd.
No other changes to default TMPGEnc settings.
    Save as a project.

Open project file in Vfapi and convert to Vfapi avi file.

Open CCE SP and add this .avi file from Vfapi.
Best I can recall, CCE SP settings as follows:
    MPEG2
    vbr, min 500 max 2600mbps
    Q value of 20
noise filter to 2 or 3
priority (?) to 10 (same page as noise setting)
    Ultra low bitrate

2h 20M avi encodes at appx 0.75 rt, takes about 3.5 hours.

    Does this help?

Open TMPGEnc and close the wizard. Load your original AVI file into TMPGEnc. Load the SVCD Template. When it encodes, use the resulting file to burn your SVCD with. I think you have been over encoding.

  7. I did try this some time ago with no better results, it just took 35 hours to encode!
Again, the output looks great on my pc, it goes to hell on the dvd player out to the television.
