    In DVD2AVI colorspace

I can select YUV or RGB

    Which should I use :-

1)When encoding using .d2v in Tmpgenc (Vfapi uses RGB???)

2)Using AVIsynth (should I use YUV)???

What are the advantages & dissadvantages of each.?

    Cheers

This option has only influences on direct avi output and preview.

It doesn´t matter what you select for both of your cases.

But if your using avisynth to frameserv a dvd source to cinema craft encoder than keeping it at YUV can significantly decrease encoding time because it doesnt have to convert to RGB first.

Since TMPGenc only accepts RGB input you cannot take advantage of this.

    Thanks for the reply ADAM,
another question, so what happens if I choose YUV then use TMPGenc?

    Cheers

I don't know the exact chain of command. My understanding is that if you set it to RGB in dvd2avi then it will convert it from YUV to RGB before frameserving it to TMPGenc.

If you leave it in YUV I suppose vfap converts it to RGB.

In either case its converted to RGB before it hits the encoder and the speed and quality are the same, regardless of where the conversion to RGB takes place.

If your using TMPGenc then just ignore this option because it makes no difference.

If you frameserve with DVD2AVI, i.e. if you save the project, it does not matter which colorspace you select (see mb1's post above), even if you frameserve with Avisynth.
Tmpgenc accept YUV sources as well, but obviously it converts to RGB internally. CCE decodes YUV, TMPG obviously not.
